A Touch of Miami Comes to Crystal City

Temporary Mural to be Largest in Arlington

Crystal City, VA — The Crystal City Business Improvement District (BID) in partnership with Vornado/Charles E. Smith welcomes the team from No Kings Collective to create a temporary, large-scale, graffiti-style mural along Crystal Drive between 18th and 20th Streets (1900 Block). Measuring approximately 215 feet long and consisting of over 2500 square feet of wall space, the mural is to be Arlington’s largest.

Inspired by Miami’s Wynwood Walls, the artistic transformation will begin on Tuesday, April 1st to celebrate the kick-off and early opening of the Crystal City FRESHFARM Market, which is returning to its original Crystal Drive location. Painting will continue during regular business hours as well as during special events including the Farmers Market (3 PM to 7 PM), Food Truck Thursdays (11 AM to 2 PM), and the 5k Fridays races (6:30 PM) until completion. To learn when No Kings Collective is actively painting, follow @NoKingsDC and @ccbid on twitter.

No Kings Collective founders, Brandon Hill and Peter Chang, will lead the effort and bring in several well-known artists over the course of the mural’s evolution. Well-known in the Washington area art scene, No Kings Collective has spearheaded a number of DC murals, produced popular art pop-up events including Submerge and the Pallet Projekt, and recently opened a new art gallery, Hierarchy, in Adams Morgan.
