Summer is almost here, and the Crystal City Business Improvement District (BID) wants your feedback. Over the course of the past eight years, the Crystal City BID has worked to change how people see, perceive, and experience Crystal City. In our continued efforts to transform Crystal City, we want your input about events, programs, and the Crystal City area as a whole. Crystal City Twilighter
Saturday, July 25th - 8:30pm
Summer nights are made for racing the streets with thousands of your closest running pals! Join the Crystal City Business Improvement District and Pacers Running for one of the area’s hottest and most popular summer twilight races. Monday Morning Yoga
Mondays - 7am
Amateur and seasoned yogis can join professional instructors from Mind Your Body Oasis and flex their way into the week with Monday Morning Yoga in the Crystal City Water Park across from 1750 Crystal Drive. In the event of inclement weather, the class will be held inside at Mind Your Body Oasis.

Crystal Screen: Spark Espionage
Mondays at Sunset
Crystal Screen: Spark Espionage continues next week with RED. With the help of Moonflicks, a courtyard in Crystal City is transformed into a movie theater. There is no better place to meet friends, bring a picnic, and enjoy an evening under the stars. The movies start after sunset.

Crystal City FRESHFARM Farmers Market
Tuesdays - 3pm to 7pm
Spark Fresh and shop at the popular FRESHFARMS Market. Enjoy products from 20 local farmers and producers with seasonal fruits and vegetables, fresh-cut flowers, container plants and herbs, farm-raised eggs, all-natural meats, artisan baked goods, specialty foods and much more. On the first Tuesday of every month, the market will have a beer/wine garden featuring products from local breweries/wineries.

Outdoor Zumba
Wednesdays - Noon
The Courtyard at 2121 Crystal Drive starts to heat up on Wednesdays with outdoor Zumba. Zumba fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow moves to create a one-of-a-kind fitness program that will blow you away. Come out and join the party!

Sparket: A Creative Market
Wednesdays - 11am to 2pm
The eclectic and colorful shopping experience of Eastern Market returns to 1900 Crystal Drive with Sparket – A Creative Market. Featuring a diverse mix of arts, crafts, handmade jewelry, accessories, bath and beauty products and other local, handcrafted products as well as live-music and select food products, Sparket aims to provide a new lunchtime attraction for area workers, hotel guests, and residents.

Everything Esmonde
Thursday, July 9th
Everything Esmonde will be open at Food Truck Thursdays for bike service every other week. If you need a bike repair or simply a tune-up, walk-ups are welcome! You can also schedule an appointment by emailing

Local Motor's Mobifactory
Weekdays from 11am to 7pm
Local Motors brings its Mobifactory (Mobi) to Crystal City to inspire and unite the Co-creation Nation for a summer of innovation and making in the heart of our nation’s capital. The summer of innovation at the Crystal City Mobi begins in June through early September and features the Local Motors Verrado, an electric drift trike designed to bring out the kid in everyone; the Local Motors Rally Fighter, the world’s first co-created vehicle; and the Local Motors 3D-printed car, the first and only drivable 3D-printed car. Open to the public, the Mobi will offer free weekly how-to classes on the “Science of Drifting” and “3D-Printing 101.” Each month, visitors are invited to participate in drag race slalom courses or join a trike group to tour the best places to ride drift trikes in the area.

Changes to ART Routes
Beginning Monday, July 6th
Schedule changes for ART Routes 41, 43, and 87 will go into effect on Monday, July 6. More frequent service will be added to the ART 41 and 43 schedules. ART 87 is undergoing the most changes with additional service in the evenings, extended weekend service and a new route. Click here for more information

July 23rd, August 6th, and September 17th - 9am to 4pm
DMV2Go is a handicapped-accessible full service office-on-wheels that is equipped to process all DMV transactions including: apply for or renew your ID card - available for adults and children, apply for or renew your driver's license, get a copy of your driving record, apply for certified copies of Virginia birth certificates, get fishing and hunting licenses, and much more!

July 4th Celebration at Long Bridge Park
Saturday, July 4th - 5pm to 10pm
The 2015 July 4th Celebration @ Long Bridge Park will be filled with fun games and activities, delicious food, awesome live music and a great view of Washington, DC’s fireworks display! Boundary Channel Drive Interchange
Comments Due By July 23
A public information meeting was held on June 23 to seek feedback on three design concepts for improving the interchange of Boundary Channel Drive, Interstate 395 and Long Bridge Drive. For those who were unable to attend, we created an online comment form, using a survey, to share the information presented at the meeting. The comment period closes on Thursday, July 23. Meeting materials and the three design concepts are available on the project webpage.

County Board to Consider Transitway Ordinance in July
July 21
On July 21 the County Board is scheduled to consider and take public comment on an ordinance to create transit-only lanes in Crystal City and Potomac Yard, allow enforcement of their use and set fines for violating the lane restrictions. These lanes are under construction as part of the Crystal City Potomac Yard Transitway project. The ordinance has been re-advertised to include a change to the peak period transit lane in Crystal City, extending the morning period of bus-only use to 10 a.m., instead of 9 a.m. For details, view the ordinance advertisement (PDF) and understanding transit lanes.
