The Crystal Screen Sips & Sweets movie festival joins our SIPtember line-up which will indulge guests this September with fun movies about wine and chocolate. The eclectic and colorful shopping experience of Eastern Market returns to 1900 Crystal Drive with Sparket – A Creative Market for a Spring Market from May to June. Featuring a diverse mix of arts, crafts, handmade jewelry, accessories, bath and beauty products and other local, handcrafted products as well as live-music and select food products, Sparket aims to provide a new lunchtime attraction for area workers, hotel guests, and residents.

The food trucks gather in the parking lots at 1900 Crystal Drive. Some of the area’s favorite trucks will be onsite offering a great mix of delicious food for lunch. Actual truck schedules are subject to change so be sure to follow your favorites.

Mobile Bike Repair

The weekly Mobile Bike Repair station will be open at Food Truck Thursdays for bike service. If you need a bike repair or simply a tune-up, show up onsite where walk-ups are welcome. You can also schedule an appointment by emailing roman@districtwrench.com.

Arlington Mosquito Information Center
Arlington Public Health Department is taking action to control mosquitoes and prevent mosquito bites as part of its broader Zika prevention efforts. With recent media coverage of the Zika virus, and the mosquito season in Arlington continuing through October when the first frost occurs, we must remain vigilant in all our efforts to prevent the local mosquito population from breeding and carrying diseases like the Zika virus. Arlington County has simple steps to take that will help to control mosquito populations, prevent mosquito bites, and more information on their website.

Tastings @ the Crystal City Wine Shop

Get the most out of your SIPtember by swinging by the Crystal City Wine Shop for free, hand-picked tastings! There is a beer tasting on Thursday and wine tasting on Friday from 5pm to 7pm as well as a Staff Pick tasting on Saturday from 2pm to 6pm each week! September Shows at the Gallery Underground

During September, Gallery Underground features the “Tranquility” Show. Exhibiting artists will create a contemplative spirit with tranquil colors, scenes and thoughts in works that envelope, calm and invite the viewer to linger with the art. In addition to a new September Members Show in the Main Gallery, also featured is the watermedia work of Chica Brunsvold

If you’re seeking funding for your new idea, Eastern Foundry is bringing a group of like minded inventors and business leaders together to build applications for fifty, $225,000 grants from the National Science Foundation’s (NSF) SBIR program that will be released this Fall. This workshop will take place over two weekends where you will build and refine your application with guidance from Eastern Foundry coaches, see examples of winning applications, and gain insight into any future grants you are interested in.
