Women of Vision 2010 Finalists Named

ARLINGTON, Va.--The Arlington County Commission on the Status of Women has selected six finalists for the 2010 Women of Vision Award. Each is recognized for her accomplishments and contributions to improving the lives and opportunities for Arlington citizens, especially women.
The award will be presented at the 24th Annual Women of Vision award ceremony and reception on Wednesday, March 31 at the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association, 4301 Wilson Boulevard. News anchor Maureen Bunyan will be the keynote speaker.
The public is invited to the March 31 event. Those interested in attending are asked to RSVP to commission liaison Diane Gates by March 24 or call 703-228-5955. A donation of $10 per person at the door is suggested to support CSW activities.
About the Arlington County Commission on the Status of Women
The Commission on the Status of Women works to advance initiatives and policies that empower women and serves as a community advocate and resource on the social and economic interests of all Arlington women. The commission is an Arlington County Board advisory group. Its members are appointed by the County Board.
About the Women of Vision Award Finalists
Lillibeth Boruchow was nominated for her work identifying the need for mental health services at the Arlington Free Clinic, recruiting the resources and successfully integrating those services into the clinic.
Angela Fox was nominated for her work with the Crystal City Business Improvement District and the Women in Technology board, and as a mentor to women in business, girls interested in science and technology, and young mothers in Arlington County schools.
Judy Hadden was nominated for her countless actions to make Arlington County a safer, more supportive, healthier place for young people and their families and in particular, her work as a founding member of the Arlington partnership for Children, Youth, and Families, the creation of the Arlington Teen Network Board, and prototyping the now thriving parent networks in Arlington schools.
Linda Dunphy and Andrea Maresca were nominated for their work initiating the Arlington County Domestic Violence Leadership Roundtable that resulted in a major government and community effort to address domestic violence known as Project PEACE: Partnering to End Abuse in the Community for Everyone.
Kathleen Sibert was nominated for her efforts to expand the work of A-SPAN, Arlington Street People’s Assistance Network, and to recognize and address the health and safety needs of homeless women.
