Synetic Theater Takes the Stage in Crystal City
Performances begin September 2010
Crystal City (Arlington, VA) - The Crystal City Business Improvement District (BID) in partnership with Vornado/Charles E. Smith is proud to announce that Synetic Theater will be joining the Crystal City community this summer with performances beginning in September 2010. Synetic Theater, founded by Paata and Irina Tsikurishvili in 2001, is DC’s Premier Physical Theater company. Synetic has been nominated for 65 Helen Hayes awards and has received the award 17 times.
“Through a terrific collaboration with the Crystal City BID, we have been delighted to support the growth and success of great theater in Crystal City. We enjoyed being the temporary home for Arena Stage’s award-winning performances. And now, after Arena goes back to DC, we’re excited that Synetic Theater will take the stage in Crystal City,” said Mitchell Schear, President of Vornado/Charles E. Smith.
With its artistic success and continued audience growth, Synetic is poised for the next step–a dedicated venue. Synetic will continue to delight their current fans and attract new ones as their new location in Crystal City boasts easy Metro access, plentiful free parking, and close proximity to numerous restaurants, while also maintaining relationships with STC (Shakespeare Theatre Company) and The Kennedy Center. Performances will begin in Crystal City in September 2010.
“We could not be more thrilled to welcome Synetic Theater to Crystal City,” said Angela Fox, President/CEO of the Crystal City BID. “The amazing creativity of their work and the uniqueness of their brand echoes the powerful transformation that we are promulgating in Crystal City. Vornado’s commitment to support these efforts illustrates the kind of growth through collaboration that makes Washington theater so incredibly successful.”
“We are thrilled to bring our unique brand of theater to Crystal City. I am confident that this strong partnership with Vornado/Charles E. Smith and the Crystal City BID will create new opportunities for Synetic, enabling us to further grow artistically and ensuring that Crystal City remains a destination for the arts.” – Paata Tsikurishvili, Founding Artistic Director and CEO of Synetic Theater
