Live Music, Dance Lessons and Educational Wine Classes Complete Vintage Crystal Line-Up
Crystal City (Arlington, VA) – The Crystal City Business Improvement District (BID) will host the 3rd Annual Vintage Crystal with a Latin twist on Sunday, September 20, 2009 from 2:00 – 6:00 PM at 220 20th Street South offering 30 wines from Spain, Argentina, and Chile, curated and provided by the Jaleo Wine Shop, several premier tequilas and beers and an array of culinary treats from many notable restaurants and eateries in Crystal City and the metropolitan area.
Live music is provided by the DC Jazz Festival and will include the Marshall Keys Quartet, Reginald Cyntje & the DC Jazz Collaborative, and Trio Caliente. Marshall Keys and his group interpret music in many of its forms—from contemporary to funky to some of the hardest swinging jazz you’ll ever hear—while Reginald Cyntje combines the sounds of calypso, reggae, and other African influenced music to give his trombone playing a personal approach to jazz. Trio Caliente produces music that seamlessly fuses together elements of Bossa Nova, gypsy rumba and contemporary flamenco with soothing jazz vocals and musical arrangements. All three music groups are of the highest artistic quality. Dance will accompany the music and is provided by the Salsa Room, brought to you courtesy of the Columbia Pike Revitalization Organization (CPRO). Salsa dancers will spice up the atmosphere as they perform various dance routines, and event attendees can join in with the dancers and twist it up on-site with Rumba, Salsa, Samba and Cha-Cha-Cha lessons.
For those interested in learning more about wine—whether experienced or novice—there will be educational wine classes throughout the event free of charge. Classes will discuss the various wines from Spain, Chile, and Argentina that are offered at this year’s Vintage Crystal. There will be two classes every hour and each class will last approximately 15-20 minutes.
Accompanying the wine and festivities, more than 25 food tastes from well-known area restaurants will delight the taste buds. Fifteen partners have also signed up to pour wine and select tequilas and beers and provide great giveaways to event attendees. For a complete listing of wines, tequilas, beers, and participating restaurants and partners, visit www.crystalcity.org. Tickets will be available to purchase on-site the day of the event for $20 and will include sips, tastes, and a commemorative wine glass. Food-only tickets can be purchased for $10 and admission for kids is free. Tickets are cash only.
The Crystal City BID, through its Crystal Green Program, has a “low-to-no waste” event policy. On-site recycling, eco-friendly products for all samples (plates, cups, cutlery, etc.) and compost bins will be available at Vintage Crystal. 220 20th Street, DC Modern Luxury and MIX 107.3 are the premier promotional partners for the event.
