Crystal Screen James Bond Festival Grows Bigger, Better
Crystal City (Arlington, VA) – From Crystal City with Love, the area's only Outdoor Film Festival featuring all 21 official James Bond films, is expanding again! The Crystal City Business Improvement District is proud to announce a larger screen size and a four-week extension of the festival highlighting a series of hilarious Bond spoofs.
Starting on Monday, July 14th at the showing of Moonraker, Crystal Screen will feature an enlarged 14' x 24' screen that comes with an even more powerful sound system. The new equipment will further increase the area from which Crystal Screen patrons can comfortably see and hear the movie, allowing even more people to enjoy the festival.
"With Crystal Screen attendance now pushing well above 500 enthusiastic patrons per screening, we looked for ways to enhance the experience while allowing for continued growth in audience size," said Angela Fox, President/CEO of the Crystal City Business Improvement District. "The new equipment meets both purposes and we couldn't imagine a better way to announce and celebrate the program's success than by extending the festival with the introduction of four hilarious Bond spoof favorites."
The extension will add a total of four movies bringing the official festival end date to October 20th. Films include the 1967 version of Casino Royale and the three movies in the Austin Powers Series – Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, and Austin Powers in Goldmember.
Crystal Screen's From Crystal City With Love is shown in the large, grassy courtyard along S. Bell Street between 18th Street and 20th Street. Utilizing one of Crystal City's many open spaces, the courtyard is catty-corner to the Crystal City Metro and directly across from Arena Stage and the Crystal City Marriott. The movies are shown at sundown every Monday, rain or shine (with the exception of severe inclement weather). In addition, the festival will continue to include special contests, prizes, and fun themes. Movie patrons can visit www.crystalcity.org (click on events) for more details.
