Crystal City's 3rd Annual Vintage Crystal Serves Up Latin "Accent" for the Palette
Salsa and Samba Spice up Outdoor Wine Festival
Crystal City (Arlington, VA) – The Crystal City Business Improvement District (BID) announced today it will host the 3rd Annual Vintage Crystal with a Latin “accent” that will offer more than 20 wines from Spain and Latin America, several premier tequilas and an array of culinary treats from many notable restaurants and eateries in Crystal City and metropolitan area.
The event will be held on Sunday, September 20, 2009 from 2:00 – 6:00 PM at 220 20th Street South.
“Vintage Crystal has become a signature event here in Crystal City,” said Angela Fox, President/CEO of the Crystal City BID. “Showcasing the cultural highlights of Crystal City: superb restaurants and eateries, easy accessibility and beautiful open spaces, Vintage Crystal offers up something for everyone - from the passionate foodie, wine enthusiast to the music and dance lover.”
To complement the wine and tequila samplings, many well-known area restaurants, such as Jaleo, King Street Blues, Morton’s the Steakhouse, Café Pizzaiola, Cucina Vivace, Ruth’s Chris Steak House, and the new Kora will serve regional cuisine. Additionally, the Columbia Pike Revitalization Organization (CPRO) will bring many of its popular Latin American restaurants to the festival, accentuating the spicy authentic flair of this year’s themed festivities. For a complete listing of wines, tequilas and participating restaurants, visit www.crystalcity.org.
A returning crowd pleaser, the Duke Ellington Jazz Festival (DEJF), will celebrate the area’s rich jazz history. Between sips, local Latin American dance groups will perform throughout the day and attendees can twist it up on-site with Rumba, Salsa, Samba and Cha-Cha-Cha lessons.
Tickets will be available to purchase on-site the day of the event for $20 and will include sips, tastes, and a commemorative wine glass. Food-only tickets can be purchased for $10 and admission for kids is free. For those interested in learning more about wine -- whether experienced or a novice -- there will be educational wine classes offered throughout the event free of charge. The Crystal City BID, through its Crystal Green Program, has a “low- to no-waste” event policy. On-site recycling, eco-friendly products for all samples (plates, cups, cutlery, etc.) and compost bins will be available at Vintage Crystal. 220 20th Street, DC Modern Luxury and MIX 107.3 are the premier promotional partners for the event.
