Crystal City Gets Hot!
Free outdoor Zumba and yoga classes to begin in July
Crystal City (Arlington, VA) — Starting Wednesday, July 1st, the Crystal City Business Improvement District (BID) in collaboration with Sport & Health and Vornado/Charles E. Smith will be offering free outdoor Zumba and Hot Yoga classes. As part of the Crystal Fit program, these activities are designed to keep the community fit, healthy, and green!
Zumba is a fun, rhythmic dance and interval class infused with Latin flavor, while Hot Yoga brings strength, flexibility, and balance. Both represent the active, artful, accessible and green aspects of Crystal City.
“I first learned about Zumba while in Mexico on a yoga vacation,” said Angela Fox, CCBID President/CEO. “I have never had more fun in a group class. In this case, Zumba is also the perfect lead up to our 3rd Vintage Crystal, which will have a ‘Latin twist.’ Whether you want to motivate or meditate, these classes will energize you inside and out!”
Starting July 1, Sport & Health instructors will lead the free, outdoor Zumba classes every Wednesday from 12 noon-1 pm in the courtyard at the 2345 Crystal Drive. This workout will transition to Hot Yoga for the month of August—same time, same location, just a different workout style to keep you motivated and active. Cool down and clean-up with a quick, complimentary shower at Sport & Health before heading back to the office energized and refreshed.
In addition, starting Monday, July 6th, yoga-inspired stretching will be offered each week in the courtyard between 18th and Bell Street at 7:45 PM, just before the start of the Crystal Screen Superhero-themed movie. Participants can become their own favorite Superhero by getting fit and healthy this summer with the Crystal City BID and Sport and Health.
