Crystal City Gets Fresh!
More Than 20 Vendors at Inaugural Farmers’ Market

Crystal City (Arlington, VA) – Residents and employees in the Crystal City neighborhood will soon be able to shop for farm-fresh produce and locally produced foods at Crystal Farms – Crystal City’s new Farmers’ Market. Crystal Farms will run every Tuesday from 3:00-7:00PM starting May 12 and through October 27 on the sidewalk along Crystal Drive between 18th and 20th Streets.

"The success of the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program launched last year convinced us that there is a real need for a Farmers’ Market in Crystal City," said Angela Fox, President and CEO of Crystal City BID. “With the great line-up of vendors, we are indeed taking the Crystal Farms program to its next level.”

Over 20 vendors have signed up for the 2009 market season. Together they will bring seasonal fruits and vegetables, artisan cheeses, fresh-cut flowers and container herbs, all-natural fresh and cured meats, farm-raised eggs, fresh-baked goods, specialty foods and much more.

Participating vendors include Atwater’s Bakery, Baguette Republic, Barajas Produce, BIGG Riggs Farms, Cherry Glen Goat Cheese, Flat Rock Farm, Four Seasons Nursery, Grace’s Pastries, Great Harvest Bread Co., LynnVale Studios at LynnVale Farm, Meat Crafters, The Orchid Station, Red Apron Butcher Shop, Salsa Las Glorias, Sumerduck Farm, Teaco, Toigo Orchards, Tyson’s Farms, Walnut Hill Farm and Westmoreland Produce.

Just steps away from the Crystal City Metro station and many public parking garages (free parking after 4:00 PM), Crystal Farms offers a convenient location to get healthy food products produced locally. In addition to being an extension of the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program, the Farmers’ Market is also part of the Crystal City Business Improvement District’s (BID) Green Scene - a slate of spring events designed to help Crystal City get fit, get healthy, and get green.
