Calling All Artists: Green Art Comes to Crystal City
Crystal City Invites Area Artists to Design ECO-Art Statues
Crystal City (Arlington, VA) – In the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day, the Crystal City Business Improvement District (CCBID) invites area artists to show off their green by participating in the CCBID’s Green Scene – spring events designed to help Crystal City stay fit, fun and healthy.
“We’re excited to bring the second Green Scene announcement on the heels of Arlington County’s new incentives for area developers to build ‘green’, " said Angie Fox, President/CEO of the Crystal City BID. “In this case, it's the artists who will build green and underscore Crystal City's commitment to sustainability in a fun and creative way.”
Following the success of Crystal Flight’s 50 individualized airplane statues, Green Scene’s ECO-Art Project will be a temporary, outdoor environmental statues exhibit. Created by select local artists, the plant-based, biodegradable statues will be displayed in one of Crystal City’s landmark open spaces, the Crystal City Water Park. Further celebrating Crystal City’s green spirit, the Crystal City BID was recently named winner of the inaugural Environmental Sustainability Award by JK Moving & Storage. Recognized for their efforts to reduce energy demand and the area’s carbon footprint, as well as their many ongoing green events, the Crystal City BID was selected for embodying the spirit and purpose of sustainability at its best.
