Boeing Announces Lead Sponsorship for 2011 Air Force Cycling Classic
(Arlington, VA) – The Air Force Cycling Classic welcomes The Boeing Company as the Presenting Sponsor for the 2011 series of cycling events including the Pro Race and the Clarendon Cup events, June 11-12. Boeing’s commitment to the event will ensure its continued growth and success, providing opportunities for cycling enthusiasts of all abilities to participate in this National Capital Region signature event.
“The Air Force Cycling Classic generates an atmosphere of excitement for both fans and racers and we’re delighted to be participating in such a meaningful way,” said Dennis Muilenburg, president and CEO, Boeing Defense, Space & Security. “It’s a growing tradition in the Arlington community and motivates riders of all levels to keep fit by participating in this great sport.”
The weekend’s events begin on Saturday, June 11, with the Air Force Cycling Classic’s Clarendon Cup. Amateur racers will participate in the first race and the Men’s Pro race, now in its14th year, starts at noon. On Sunday, June 12, the pros will again be featured in the Air Force Cycling Classic Crystal Cup, which will follow the non-competitive Air Force Cycling Challenge Crystal Ride. Women’s and amateur races will follow. Saturday and Sunday’s races will again be part of the prestigious USA Cycling’s National Race Calendar.
Participants in the Air Force Cycling Classic Crystal Ride will again be able to earn a gold medal by completing eight laps in less than 3 ½ hours. A silver medal is earned by riding four laps, and a bronze for two laps in that timeframe. Registration for the Crystal Ride, the Corporate Challenge and the Kids Races are now open through the events website: www.AirForceCyclingClassic.com.
