CRYSTAL CITY, VA— Due to overwhelming demand, the Crystal City Business Improvement District (BID) has extended the 1K Wine Walk to include Sunday, February 27th. This wine tasting, like no other, asks participants to lace up their sneakers and cleanse their palettes as they complete a tasting course throughout the interior walkways of Crystal City. Presented by the Crystal City BID in partnership with the Washington Wine Academy, the 1K Wine Walk promises “racers” the opportunity to taste and learn about between 30-40 wines from around the world ranging from favorite varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir to more obscure, up and coming varieties like Albarino and Carmenere.

“The response has been incredible. This is the first year for 1K Wine Walk and we are thrilled by the amount of tickets that have been sold already,” said Angela Fox, President/CEO of the Crystal City BID, “It’s great to see so many people coming to Crystal City for this event and experience our amazing weather-proof walkways first-hand.”

On Saturday, February 26th and again on Sunday, February 27th, tasters will have the option of seven different half-hourly heats to choose from (2 PM, 2:30 PM, 3 PM, 3:30 PM, 4 PM, 4:30 PM and 5 PM) before walking and sipping through a series of hydration stations staffed by Washington Wine Academy experts. In addition to great wines, tasters will also have the opportunity to view photographs on display from finalists and youth category winners from FotoWeek DC before ending up at the “finish festival” in the former food court, turned tasting lounge.
