As part of the Green program, the Crystal City BID gives offices, works, and residents an opportunity to recycle their electronics safely and securely for free.
2011 Power Purge & Shred
The fourth Annual Power Purge will take place on April 27, 2011 from 7:00am - 7:00pm, and includes a community paper shred. The event will be held in the parking lot of 2001 Jefferson Davis Hwy. The Kane Company will be providing the electronic recycling and document shredding.
2010 Power Purge & Shred
The third Crystal City Power Purge includes a community Shred. The event was held in the parking lot of 2001 Jefferson Davis Hwy, on April 21, 2010. The Kane Company provided the electronic recycling and document shredding.
2009 Power Purge
The second Crystal City Power Purge was also held in the parking lot of 2001 Jefferson Davis Hwy, on April 15, 2009. At the end of the day 22 tons of electronics was hauled away by JK Moving & Storage.
2008 Power Purge
The first Crystal City Power Purge took place in the parking lot of 2001 Jefferson Davis Hwy from August 11-14, 2008. Everything from desktop computers, laptops, TVs, monitors, microwaves, and batteries were accepted. This was the first time that the Crystal City BID, and partner JK Moving & Storage Inc. had ever attempted a program like this.
Over the course of four days, 250 companies and individuals brought items to be recycled, and JK collected over 53,400 pounds of waste that was saved from landfills and put to good use. In addition to the Crystal City BID and JK Moving & Storage, Vornado, NCB, Conservation International and CEA provided volunteers to staff the event and assist people dropping of items to be recycled.

Area businesses and residents can safely and securely drop off unwanted electronics for recycling. Everything from batteries, desktop computers and laptops, to TVs, monitors and microwaves are accepted for FREE.
