The Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Intermediate Certificate - Level Two provides a very comprehensive overview of wine and spirits and all of the wine making regions of the World.

This course covers the major wine producing regions of the world, grapes and components of winemaking, stylistic and environmental factors that affect grape growing and processing as well as all aspects of wine service, wine storage, wine trends, food and wine pairing. In addition, you will be taught the WSET systematic approach to tasting wines to help you assess wines in your everyday life.

The Washington Wine Academy has been an authorized training center for nearly five years and has trained over 500 Washington DC area students in our Intermediate and Advanced Certificates. For those of you wishing to continue the learning process, we are please to offer WSET Diploma (Level Four) courses continuing in January 2010.

No previous wine knowledge is required for this great course. Class is appropriate for students who have a serious interest in wine, and those who wish to broaden their knowledge. The IC class is our starting class for those who wish to take our wine certification courses.

Intermediate Certificate covers the wines and spirits of the world in five three-hour sessions, once a week for five weeks followed by a one-hour multiple choice examination on a final (sixth) session. Each session includes sampling of 8-10 wines.

Note: Washington Wine Academy consulted a Master of Wine (only 25 MW's in the US) for the creation of our presentation materials and handouts to ensure the integrity of information presented.
