Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School:

Baltimore Burlesque-Infused Life Drawing Session

Event hours: 8-11 p.m.

Dr. Sketchy's is the chain of burlesque-infused life-drawing sessions that circles the globe from Hollywood to New Zealand. Started in NYC by artist Molly Crabapple, Dr. Sketchy's is based on Molly's harebrained dream of a "decadent" art class with fair pay and respect for the models and boozy fun for all. Charm City's own branch will present a night of drawing and debauchery featuring D.C. burlesque beauties Sugar Ann Spice and L'il Dutch as our muses for the evening! Join in some seriously silly drawing contests to win prizes! At Dr. Sketchy's, we don't care if you picked up a pad yesterday or 50 years ago--come to drink or to draw. We recommend bringing your own sketch materials, but limited drawing supplies will be on hand for the curious.

DJ Chris Instrument

6-9pm

Chris Instrument is addicted to the groove. He became hooked on hip hop music in the late 90’s; just in time to catch the end of the “golden age” of the culture. Producers like DJ Premier and Jay Dee remain his favorites, and it was their productions that inspired him to go back and investigate the samples they used. In the early 00’s, Chris began scouring record stores for funk, soul, jazz and disco breaks, ammasing a knowledge of all things funky.

Nappy Riddem feat. Rex Riddem and Mustabar

9pm-Midnight

Rex Riddem and Mustabar are recording the upcoming album for Nappy Riddem, a ragga-psychedelic soul funk project comprised of the two Rastars, and Thievery Corporation and Gogogo Airhart Bassist Ashish ‘Hash’ Vyas. The three draw from their comon love of everything diasporic, creating a unique sound that blends the sultry soul of Akbars voice, Hash's dubby basslines, and Rex's funky beats with latin percussion. Their recent releases, deemed "groovy" and "awesome"by Steve Aoki, are featured on Fort Knox Recordings "The New Gold Standard 2" compilation featuring guest appearances by Asheru, of the Unspoken Heard and Boondocks theme song, as well as guitarist Rob “International Velvet” Myers, who also plays with Thievery Corporation, See-I and Fort Knox Five. The Riddem Method sound has even traveled as far as Budapest, recieving regular airplay on Hungary's FM 90.3.
