Consisting of eight large canvases, the Luminous exhibition by Washington, DC-based artist, Anne Marchand, is on display within the recently renovated ground floor public concourse of 2231 Crystal Drive adding exceptional color to a beautiful new space. The showing is made possible through a partnership between the Crystal City BID and the owner of the property, Vornado/Charles E. Smith.
Inspired by the combination of colorful images taken by the Hubble Space Telescope and mystical poetry, Marchand creates patterns of movement that reflect the forces of the heavens. Gestures, lines, and energetic strokes are transformed into worlds of color and exciting arcs of movement that dance across the canvases taking viewers on a journey through the cosmos into darkness, light, and back to the rhythms of the natural world. Marchand’s use of mixed media, acrylic and incorporation of texture and translucent passages of paint help create a moving and reflective exhibition.
