FLASH is a month-long event created by FotoDC and sponsored by the Crystal City BID. Between March 17th and April 17th, 2011, the penthouse (12th & 13th Floors) of 2450 Crystal Drive in Arlington, VA will be filled with exciting photography shows and events. FLASH will encompass two curated photography exhibitions, a library of photography books, and a lounge for refreshments and discussion.

Both exhibitions have come to fruition as the result of FotoQuest, the search for great work by photographers throughout the DC metropolitan area. FotoQuest 2011, which took place between January 17th and February 7th, included two opportunities for photographers to present their work for consideration – to one of five photography industry experts, or to the FotoDC Panel comprised of board and staff members.

“Five x Five” is the aptly named exhibition highlighting five photographers exhibiting five works each that were selected by five photography industry experts – 5 Curators x 5 Photographers, hence the title of the show.

“FotoDC Panel Selections” is a selection of works culled from thousands of images submitted by hundreds of DC area photographers for members of the FotoDC Panel to review.

FotoDC’s collection of over 500 international photography books published between 2008 and 2010, known as the FotoBooks exhibition, will be on display throughout the month.

FLASH will kick off with a private VIP and Press Reception on March 17th and will then be open and free to the public on Friday, March 18th with a Launch Party to celebrate the selected works of professional and emerging photographers, and ends with a Closing Party on Saturday, April 16th.

Wednesdays and Thursdays: 5 PM – 10 PM
Fridays: 5PM - 11 PM; Saturdays: Noon – 11 PM; Sundays: Noon – 7 PM
