Created by artist Steed Taylor, the Labor Line celebrates Crystal City's workers. The 200 foot road tattoo stretches down 18th street from Bell to Crystal Drive.
During the painting of the tattoo, Steed Taylor wrote and read the following poem:
As I work today, this week and during my life
May I have the grace to work conscientiously,
Executing my responsibilities and my efforts with respect to all.
May I work with order, peace and prudence,
Guided by patience and gratitude.
May the purity of my intentions focus my labors,
And inform my work.
May I listen and speak with an open heart and mind,
So the best in others and myself is brought forth and used.
As I face and endure obstacles,
May I never surrender to dissatisfaction, difficulties and strife.
Amen
