EVERY YOUNG WOMAN’S DESIRE & THE JOBIM JUKEBOX AT WSC
Starting May 20, the Washington Shakespeare Company presents Every Young Woman's Desire by Marco Antonio de la Parra. A psychological thriller first produced in Santiago in the final years of Pinochet's authoritarian rule, the play is about a woman's struggle with a mysterious and dangerous intruder and goes to the heart of the brutal dictatorship's mechanisms for control: terror, seduction, and the exploitation of a basic need for security. Following these performances, Barbara Papendorp will sing "The Jobim Jukebox," a short cabaret of samba and bossa nova songs by Brazilian great Antonio Carlos Jobim in the Clark Street Playhouse lobby (admission is free with same-day tickets to the play). R. Buckminster Fuller: THE HISTORY (and Mystery) OF THE UNIVERSE
Does humanity have a chance to survive on Spaceship Earth? Explore this question with Renaissance man R. Buckminster Fuller, inventor of the geodesic dome. Join Arena Stage from May 28th to July 4th for an unforgettable journey inside one of the most remarkable minds of the 20th century in a dazzling, virtuoso multimedia performance. A hero of the green movement, Bucky framed many of the great environmental ideas of his time and ours. This is your chance to get to know the man and his world-saving mission in a play "as startlingly funny as it is intellectually stimulating" (San Francisco Examiner). It may not only change your life but the life of our planet as well. Click here for more information and to purchase tickets. |

The lights on “The Strip” have never been brighter! The whole city of Las Vegas is buzzing about the Entertainer of the Year Contest. Every lounge lizard in town is entered, and the competition will be fierce, because the grand prize is a lifetime booking at the biggest joint in town, The Fantasyland Casino! There isn’t an Elvis imitator or Wayne Newton wannabe around that wouldn’t kill for the chance to work that room. And we do mean KILL, in Mystery Dinner Playhouse’s outrageously funny mystery, “Murder, Las Vegas Style” showing at the Sheraton through November. |
