Bicycle Commuting

With direct access to the Mount Vernon and Four Mile Run recreational trails, Crystal City is located along some of the busiest cycling routes in the metropolitan area. As traffic congestion continues to get worse, bicycling offers a healthy, green, and often times faster way to get to and from work. The Crystal City BID has focused on encouraging cycling commutes by enhancing bicycle culture throughout the area with events, creative partnerships, and investments in new infrastructure. Two programs, however, are specifically tailored to help get employees and residents into the cycle commuting groove – Sport & Health Shower Solutions & annual Bike to Work Day sponsorship and Pit Stop.

Sport & Health Shower Solutions
The Sport & Health Gateway club in Crystal City now offers shower membership programs for cycle commuters. If your office building does not offer shower facilities, call the Gateway Sport & Health club today to sign up. The shower membership is available to cycling commuters Monday through Friday from 5AM - 10AM. There is a $49 enrollment fee, $49 processing fee, and $39.99 per month membership fee (1 year term agreement required).

Bike to Work Day/Week
Those interested in trying out a cycle commute can take advantage of the Washington Area Bicyclist Association’s (WABA) annual Bike to Work Day each year or commit to a whole week of cycling with Bike to Work Week. Crystal City hosts a pit stop in its beautiful Water Park, with snacks, repairs, and even the option to try out the showers at Sport & Health if riders need to get cleaned up before heading to the office.
